IMAPS Microelectronic Foundation Mission Statement:
The Foundations role is to support student activities related to the study of Microelectronic Packaging, Interconnect and Assembly.
How Does the Foundation Support This Mission? We do this by supporting student activities that promote an understanding of how components are made, understanding assembly technologies and materials. To promote these activities we give grants for research projects, sponsor technical paper contests and help with student travel to conferences and workshops. In addition we assist academic staff with materials and funding to facilitate classroom activities.
We would like to start helping students gain work experience by facilitating internships for student members with IMAPS corporate members. We also believe that small research grants for class projects will help students gain valuable working experience.
To further work experience we are working with other technical societies, primarily in Asia to explore the possibilities for student exchange programs. The goal is for students to learn technology from a different prospective, and understand cultural practices of working in another country.
If you share these goals then we invite you to work with the IMAPS Foundation to help us create better understanding of technologies of microelectronic packaging.
